Oakmoss Absolute displays intense, mossy base notes reminiscent of a walk deep in a forest containing ferns, damp soil, moss, fungus & decaying leaves. It has an earthy yet green aroma that is deep & tenacious, lasting for months on a test strip. This Oakmoss is IFRA-compliant, which means it has had some of the atranol removed (it contains less than 100 parts per million) to reduce the possibility of adverse skin reactions. It is derived from hexane-free extraction of a lichen that grows predominantly on the bark of oak trees.
This absolute is imported from France and is used to give longevity & fixative effects to perfume compositions. Oakmoss is one of the main components in the Chypre perfume genre along with a citrus top note, Labdanum and Patchouli. To make your own Chypre fragrance, start with this simple accord and adjust according to your taste. You can add whatever florals you desire to fill out the heart:
3 parts Bergamot
2 parts Patchouli
2 parts Labdanum
1 part  Oakmoss Absolute
